Movie Reviews

Looker

Looker, another early 80's Science Fiction movie written and directed by Michael Crichton, reminds me so much of another one of his movies (Runaway) that I'm tempted to classify it as Runaway with models instead of robots -- which might not be too far from reality.

John Carpenter's The Thing

I hate the cold. Snow and Ice are definitely not for me. After seeing John Carpenter's The Thing, I'm even more sure of this fact. This movie reinforces the fact that the Antarctic is the last place on earth I would ever want to visit.

Runaway

Runaway was one of Michael Crichton's early attempts at writing and directing. While it may not be remembered as one of his best films, it's a thoroughly enjoyable SciFi crime thriller -- and it has some of the coolest, heat seeking missile bullets ever seen on film!

War of the Worlds

At one point in War of the Worlds, Tom Cruise announces There's nothing living in that direction! which pretty much sums up my feelings about this movie. It was well made, competently directed, and had perfectly good performances, but it just didn't go anywhere.
